We are currently using VNC as a tool for remote support, but it doesn't work for computers that are off our domain. Does anyone use a support tool that is purely web based for remote access to computers?

Cheers! Dave

We don't, but I'm going to be keeping an eye on this in hopes there is someone that does.

Hi Judd - VNC is capable of doing it, but you have to have a static outside IP address assigned to the machine, and we have a LOT of machines not on our domain or network. We are hoping to find something that works purely over Internet ports (443 preferably), doesn't require a static outside IP, and is low cost (or better - FREE). We have started looking online, will keep you posted.

We are still searching for a good tool here - anyone else have any ideas or seen something that might work?

We are trying out WebEx for a remote assistance tool. It will do everything over port 443, doesn't require admin rights to install anything, no apps required, it does download a utility that is run from the temporary internet files but doesn't install an activex control.

So far testing is looking good, for the number of pc's we support off our network this may be our solution. Has anyone else found a good remote assistance tool that works over port 443?
